The Short Version
The short version: about 1,997 words, roughly 7 pages at 280 words a page. Updated whenever the site is regenerated.
The book, in a few pages, for people who practice.
This is for friends who sit. It assumes things a general reader might not grant: that the mind has a nature, that the confusion covering it is not the same thing as it, and that recognition is available on the spot rather than at the end of an argument. The full book earns each of those slowly, from the reader’s own memory, and never asks for them up front. Here I lean on them, which is what lets me be brief.
So this leaves out a great deal. The finer distinctions, the objections and the cases where the account could fail, the evidence for the claims about people you’ll never meet: all of that belongs in the full book and isn’t here. What’s here is only the broad shape, quickly, and one or two places to look. If it provokes the recognition, the rest is detail. If it doesn’t, the detail won’t help, and the full book is where to argue with me.
